What is CAS?
Another of its characteristics and differentiation is the CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) subject, a series of activities that complement its curriculum, artistic, sports and community service, thus promoting social participation and values aimed at creating a committed citizenship.
In order to obtain the degree, they must complete at least 150 hours between the 2 years of the Diploma.
It involves students leaving the classroom to perform other tasks, such as a beach clean-up, preparing an art exhibit, a race, fundraising, or attending a senior centre to help with various tasks.
What is the Monograph?
The Monograph is one of the core components of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. It is developed for students to research a topic that interests them and relate it to one of the subjects they are taking.
This is an individual research paper over the two courses that culminates in a 4,000-word paper.
Through this process, students develop the ability to analyse, synthesize and evaluate knowledge in a manner very similar to what they will use in college.
What is Theory of Knowledge?
This subject is based on reflecting critically on the different forms and areas of knowledge.
Through questions and discussions, students develop a greater understanding of their personal and ideological assumptions and learn to respect and be enriched by different positions.
