Founded in 1966, Meres International School is the only private Asturian centre accredited as an official international school by the IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization), one of the first in Spain to achieve this.

El deporte también nos enseña a sentirnos mejor. 💙
Alumnos de 2.º y 3.º de ESO tomaron la palabra para compartir con sus compañeros de 5.º y 6.º de Primaria algo que conocen por experiencia propia: cómo el deporte influye en su bienestar, les ayuda a desconectar, a compartir, a superarse y a sentirse bien.
Una actividad entre etapas en la que los mayores se convierten también en referentes para los más pequeños, hablando desde sus propias vivencias.
Además, contamos con la visita de Gévora Durán, Marta Nieto y Renata Aguirre, del Real Oviedo Femenino, que compartieron con nuestros alumnos su experiencia desde el deporte.
Porque cuidarnos también se aprende. Y muchas veces, se aprende mejor escuchándonos unos a otros. 💛

Sport also teaches us how to feel better. 💙
Students from Years 8 and 9 took the lead in sharing with our Year 5 and Year 6 Primary pupils something they know from their own experience: how sport can support wellbeing, help us switch off, connect with others, overcome challenges and simply feel good.
An activity across different year groups in which older students also become role models for the younger ones, speaking from their own experiences.
We were also joined by Gévora Durán, Marta Nieto and Renata Aguirre from Real Oviedo Femenino, who shared their own experiences through sport with our students.
Because learning how to look after ourselves matters too. And sometimes, we learn it best by listening to one another. 💛

La seguridad en el transporte escolar también se prepara, se revisa y se entrena.
Por eso, nuestro equipo ha participado en una formación práctica centrada en seguir cuidando cada trayecto y cada momento que nuestros alumnos pasan en el autobús.
Porque detrás de algo tan cotidiano como ir y volver del colegio hay organización, responsabilidad y muchas personas pendientes de que todo funcione como debe.
Seguir aprendiendo también es esto: revisar lo que hacemos cada día para hacerlo cada vez mejor.

That is why our team has taken part in practical training focused on continuing to make every journey, and every moment our students spend on the bus, as safe as possible.
Because behind something as everyday as travelling to and from school, there is organisation, responsibility and a team of people making sure everything runs as it should.
Continuing to learn also means reviewing what we do every day so we can keep doing it better.

Nuestros alumnos han vuelto a destacar en la XI edición del Concurso Literario Cándido Sánchez Gutiérrez, organizado por el Grupo Cultural y Recreativo San Pelayo “Los Cascaos”.
De los seis premios concedidos este año, cinco han sido para alumnos de Meres:

La entrega de premios tuvo lugar en Siero, poniendo el broche a un trabajo que empieza mucho antes: escribiendo, revisando, buscando las palabras adecuadas y atreviéndose a compartir lo que uno crea.
Y detrás de ellos está también el acompañamiento de nuestros profesores de Lengua, que año tras año animan a los alumnos a participar y les ayudan a dar forma a sus textos.

Our students have once again stood out in the 11th Cándido Sánchez Gutiérrez Literary Competition, organised by the Grupo Cultural y Recreativo San Pelayo “Los Cascaos”.
Of the six awards presented this year, five went to Meres students:

The awards ceremony took place in Siero, bringing to a close a process that begins much earlier: writing, revising, finding the right words and having the confidence to share what you create.
Behind them is also the support of our Language and Literature teachers, who encourage students to take part year after year and guide them throughout the writing process.

Through “Agri.culturas”, our pupils explore seeds, crops and the importance of preserving agricultural diversity, learning about the Svalbard Global Seed Vault as part of their work around the Princess of Asturias Awards.

Del aula a la Semana de los Premios. 🧬💙
Después de trabajar en clase «Leyendo el libro de la vida», nuestros alumnos de Primaria pudieron ver sus dibujos formando parte de la exposición del programa «Toma la palabra» y compartir un momento muy especial con David Klenerman, Shankar Balasubramanian y Pascal Mayer, Premio Princesa de Asturias de Investigación Científica y Técnica 2026.
Una oportunidad para poner rostro a aquello sobre lo que habían investigado, descubrir sus trabajos expuestos y acercarse a la ciencia de una forma difícil de olvidar.
Porque a veces una pregunta que empieza en el aula termina llevándote mucho más lejos.
Y, entre ciencia, arte y descubrimientos, también hubo tiempo para seguir recorriendo la Fábrica de Armas de La Vega y disfrutar de todo lo que estos días está ocurriendo alrededor de los Premios Princesa de Asturias.

From the classroom to the Princess of Asturias Awards Week. 🧬💙
After working on “Reading the Book of Life” in class, our Primary pupils had the chance to see their drawings featured in the “Toma la palabra” exhibition and share a very special moment with David Klenerman, Shankar Balasubramanian and Pascal Mayer, 2026 Princess of Asturias Award laureates for Technical and Scientific Research.
An opportunity to put faces to the science they had been exploring, see their own work on display and experience learning in a completely different way.
Because sometimes a question that begins in the classroom can take you much further.
And between science, art and discovery, there was also time to explore the Fábrica de Armas de La Vega and enjoy everything happening around the Princess of Asturias Awards.
